This will be the third demand for the creation of a television series based on the TV series Mir Okrutnoy Namere (1999)
Plot
After a hazing incident at an elite college, half-siblings Caroline and Lucien decided to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. A direct-to-video sequel, A Dangerous Name 2 (2000), in which Amy Adams replaced Sarah Michelle Gellar as Catherine Merteuil, was originally a scripted series and was later adapted into a feature film.
Follows Cruel Intention (1999)
Gellar would later reprise her role as Katherine in the 2016 NBC pilot Cruel Games (2016), which was not ordered to series. With the exception of Sarah Silva, who played CC, all the actors are horribly cast.
It cannot be said that they are not decent actors
To say that the acting was not at the proper level is an understatement. But the main characters were definitely not suitable for these roles.
It’s not quite a different story
The storyline was decent, and while it’s clear that these aren’t the same characters as in the original film, they’re largely based on them. They mimicked some scenes from the original, like Caroline kissing Annie.
Lucian was supposed to be such a sexy character as Sebastian, but I don’t understand how Zac Burgess was considered suitable for this role and as an actor
Sarah Katherine Hook, who played Caroline, did a good job as a bitch, but like Zach and Lucien’s character, they failed to achieve « sexiness and seduction. » It would have been helpful not to use the name « Cruel Games » for the series, but nevertheless, these actors and actresses simply did not hit the mark.
