Spinning this way does not push or pull air
Plot
Men and women live in a giant underground silo with different rules they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic, broken world above. Whether they are exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are the essence of science fiction. The first season covers the first 30 chapters of the book "Wool" – the book has 82 chapters.. The floor fans in the various episodes spin in the wrong direction, as far as the orientation of the blades. Featured on WatchMojo: The 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 You Need to Binge (2023).
My first review ever!
I read the Hughes trilogy years ago and loved them. When I randomly scrolled through IMDB and found SILO, I was immediately intrigued. I see a bit of mixed reviews and can relate to some of them, so here is my take on the first season. First of all, I love dystopian literature! The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological perspective on human nature in hypothetical scenarios.
It is not an adaptation in the sense that it follows the plot
My fascination with the trilogy was solidified because Hughes managed to develop Orwellian ideas in a hypothetical context relevant to the modern world. Imagining the development of the human psyche in dystopian scenarios is a challenging task. I think Hughes did a great job, SILO captures most of these aspects in a refreshing way. It is based on the books, but it obviously has to adapt to viewers in a fast-paced world. However, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in a silo.
The acting is phenomenal for the more central characters
Unlike the shallow storytelling of other shows, «SILO» has a wonderful blend of character development and atmospheric focus. The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time chasing and capturing Juliettte. They lack the atmospheric development of the silo as a society. Of course it has to appeal to a receiving audience.
