Inspired by a true story and directed by Magnus von Horn, THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE follows young factory worker Karoline (Vic Carmen Sonne) as she struggles to survive in post-World War I Copenhagen. When she finds herself unemployed, abandoned and pregnant, she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), a charismatic woman who runs an underground adoption agency that helps mothers find foster homes for their unwanted children. Because Karoline takes on the role of a nurse when there is no other place to go. A strong bond forms between the two women, but Karoline’s world is shattered when she stumbles upon the shocking truth behind her work.
